TAMARS (Technology Assisted Micro-mobilisation And Reflex Stimulation) Back Treatment
TAMARS There are many treatments available for back pain yet the problem persists because most treatments target the symptoms and not the cause of the problem. At Clinica Tarraula using the TAMARS unit we are able to work on the whole spine to ensure it is all working as it should.

Advanced technology using a Technology Assisted Micro-mobilisation And Reflex Stimulation (TAMARS) unit has helped many patients enjoy a pain free life, with long-term results.

This technology allows us to offer a full spinal treatment, which ensures that ALL of the joints of the spine are FREED UP and the vertebrae STRAIGHTENED. It is this complete approach that brings long-term pain relief, even with patients that have suffered for 40 years and have tried every possible treatment.

The TAMARS treatment is very safe and there are no sudden or violent movements and is designed to fix the cause of the problem, not the symptoms. Best of all, the non-invasive nature of the TAMARS treatment and the wide range of settings means that it can be safely used on people of virtually any age.
Why use TAMARS?

TAMARSYou may be considering treatment for your back or neck for many reasons. It could be to get rid of pain or referred pains from the spine, reduce stiffness, cosmetic reasons, improve sporting performance or something else.

What you should know is that these problems, in the vast majority of cases, stem from a mechanical problem of the spine, which essentially means that the spine is not functioning effectively. In order to function correctly the spine must be:
  • Supple and elastic - Loss of supple elasticity occurs with time and age due to the everyday wear and tear that this brings but can also be accelerated greatly by inflammatory conditions and injury.
  • Free from abnormal curvatures and misalignment - Curvature and misalignment causes stresses to concentrate in particular joints of the spine. This can develop progressively with time and age or more rapidly following an event such as a whiplash injury or a fall.
Some of the conditions successfully treated with TAMARS include:
  • Back pain/ache
  • Neck pain/ache
  • Whiplash injuries
  • Idiopathic scoliosis
  • Dowagers hump
  • Excessive kyphosis and lordosis
  • Sciatica
  • Tingling or numbness in the arms or legs
  • Headaches
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Taking pressure off prolapsed, degenerated or bulging discs
How does TAMARS work?
TAMARSThe TAMARS treatment employs a tool that can best be described as a bionic hand with four fingers. The tool is very touch sensitive and enables the practitioner to feel movements of the individual vertebra through it. It is important to note that this treatment is impossible to do manually because the spinal joints are bigger and tougher than the practitioner’s hands.

The procedure is gentle, passive and progressive and allows mobility to be restored quite naturally through three modes of treatment:
  1. Spasm mode, which prepares the muscles and commences and ends each treatment.
  2. The reflex mode, which stimulates the cervical, thoracic and lumbo-sacral para-spinal muscles and serves to stimulate stretch reflexes in these muscle groups.
  3. The mobilising mode, which uses a technique different to traditional manual therapy in that gentle, alternating pressure is applied over diagonally opposed transverse processes of adjacent vertebral pairs.
The highly advanced software of the TAMARS treatment continually adjusts itself to the methods of the working practitioner to ensure the treatment is as efficient as possible. It is also designed to "tease" the joints of the spine into movement rather than to "force" movement. This is not only more pleasant and totally safe for the patient but is also more beneficial for the long-term condition of the spine.

TAMARS The TAMARS treatment can be used with varying degrees of force. It can be graded down so that its touch is feather light or can be graded up to treat even the largest of men. The grades of treatment are continually adjusted by the practitioner and depend on how fixed the individual joints are.

After 5-6 sessions on average you can get back to doing all those things that you could not do before.
