Clinica Tarraula’s own doctors offer a full 24-hour on-call service for those patients who are too ill to visit the surgery or who require medical attention outside of normal clinic hours.
For obvious reasons this service can only be provided for patients living within a reasonable travelling distance of the clinic. Our Home Visit catchment area is difficult to define. It is generally considered to be within a 15 minutes driving distance from our clinic – see map.
All home visits are undertaken at the end of morning or afternoon clinic sessions. It is extremely rare that a doctor has the time to visit during normal consulting hours therefore if you feel the problem is sufficiently urgent that it cannot wait for the doctor to arrive then the patient probably requires hospitalisation and an ambulance should be called. For an ambulance dial 112.
AMBULANCE SERVICE
In an extreme emergency (such as a suspected heart attack, a fall possibly requiring X-ray, or a severe injury involving considerable loss of blood) please do not wait for a doctor but call an ambulance by dialling 112 immediately. They have multilingual operators available, just ask for the ambulance service and explain your problem.
The ambulance drivers, however, are unlikely to have more than a few words of English and are usually not trained as paramedics.
For patients insured with ASSSA and ARESA different criteria applies as only their nominated ambulance services can be used. Patients with these insurances will find the appropriate number in their insurance documents.

If in doubt about whether you would be able to request a home visit then please ask when registering whether you live within our home visiting area.
If a home visit is required during normal clinic hours please telephone the clinic. The receptionist will require some details such as name, age and address of patient as well as a description of the condition requiring the home visit. This information is required so that the doctor can assess the urgency of the visit and prioritise them if there are several requests on the same day. The receptionist will also require precise directions to the property, as addresses alone can often be insufficient. It is normal for the patient to be told an approximate time of the doctor’s visit once it is known and if the property is not easy to find it is often a good idea to arrange to meet the doctor at a local landmark. |

Home Visits outside of normal hours should be restricted to emergencies only. All requests should be made via the mobile telephone number, 608 666 098, which is always patched through to the duty doctor. This emergency service is not restricted to patients of the CT organisation as house guests and tourists often need to be seen out of normal consulting hours. If you live outside of the visiting catchment area but are well enough to travel you can arrange to meet the duty doctor at the most convenient clinic. Home visits cost from 8 am – 10 pm 100.00 € from 10 pm – 8 am 120.00 € For patients insured with ASSSA and ARESA a home visit is made at the discretion of the doctor (as our clinics are not contracted to provide a 24-hr service) and are charged at 1 voucher plus a supplement of 40.00€. |
